Celebrating their 25th Anniversary, Loverboy looking and sounding better than ever, rocking down the house to a sold out crowd January 8th, at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver B.C., proves that they still are "Loving Every Minute Of It". This is what real music is all about.
I felt like I was back at one of their 80's concerts. They still have as much energy and talent as someone just starting their career.
What an Honour to be celebrating 25 years! In today's music industry, not many bands are together even after five years.
It was also Mike Reno's 50th birthday. I must say, he still looks great in those red leather pants.
The crowd was a fun mixture of all ages. A Rod Stewart impersonator opened up the show as a birthday present to Mike.
After the impersonator finished, the sound of Doug's keyboards started, along with Matt's drums and there they were: Mike, Matt, Paul, Doug and Spider on stage, starting off the night with "The Kid Is Hot Tonight" This warmed up the crowd and then the boys continued to play their classics: " Turn Me Loose , Hot Girls in Love, Notorious, Lucky Ones, This Could Be The Night , Lady Of The Eighties, Lucky Ones, Working For the Weekend" and ending with " Loving Every Minute Of It".
Mike sang a really nice rendition of "Almost Paradise" and proved that he still has that incredible vocal range and tone.
Matt did a rocking drum solo. Spider strutted his stuff on his bass, which blew everyone away. Paul did his amazing guitar solo, rubbing his guitar up and down on the microphone stand and Doug did an awesome solo on his keyboards, playing the "Charlie Brown" theme song.
I was proud to be a part of this experience and it was great to see a sold out audience for our hometown boys.
I look forward to seeing Loverboy in the future. Please continue to support them this year, by nominating Loverboy into the Canadian MusicWalk Of Fame.
