Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom
Hampton Beach, NH 09/01/02

It has taken me a bit of time to sit down and write this review...not sure exactly why...possibly because it was my last show of the season and that always brings me down a bit. Or maybe it was just because I felt cheated cuz it was such a short show. Anyhow here is my take....

The Ottawa Gang headed Southeast and travelled to Hampton Beach, NH for the 1st of September. Although I am not going to bore everyone with our travel tales...I will say that although Hampton Beach is a pretty spot.....it just does not compare to the Jersey Shore in my books...give me Seaside Heights anyday!! Back to Loverboy.....

The Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom is located on the second floor along the boardwalk. It is a huge venue.......very open and I have to admit, reminds me of an old time saloon in some ways. No sawdust on the floor but really felt there should have been.

The triple bill show started on time with Survivor opening the show. I am a big Survivor fan from way back and although it was great to hear the songs live and see that Jimi Jamieson can still hold his own.....their showmanship was a great disappointment. I had heard from various sources that they were a little disgruntled to be opening the show along the tour but as far as I am concerned, they really are not headlining quality.

After what seemed like forever, the boys finally hit the stage and all I can say is Wow!!! I know that I always say that......but really....I never have a "bad" time at a Loverboy show. They are so tight on stage and just such a pleasure to watch and well, no one on the face of this earth can touch Mike vocally as far as I am concerned.

It was definitely a much shorter set....and I was a little disappointed that I didn't get to hear "Heaven In Your Eyes" again as it had been such a treat at the two previous shows but I have no complaints........they just rocked!!

As for Eddie Money......well there is no review because we chose not to stay.....having been unlucky enough to see him back in the early 90's....we opted out, wanting to end our concert on a high note rather than a sour one!! I know my comments may not sit well with everyone but seeing as how this is my review, I felt I wanted to be honest. Sorry if I have offended!!
