Wow! No other way to explain it.

Picture an outdoor amphitheater (bandshell) crammed next to the intracostal and about 2000 people milling around in various stages of undress and inebriatedness. (HINT: Lots of sunburn rednecks who drank too much Budweiser.) Then plop my Yuppie, pregnant self with cutie-pie husband and darling toddler complete with stroller and cooler full of sandwiches in the middle of all this. The boys started promptly at 7:30 with "Notorious." The hard-core fans (many of us, surprisingly) all jumped to our feet and sang along. Boy, Mike looked great. Looks like his hair is a little sun-bleached, nice tan, and he looks like he has lost some weight. (Since I saw them in February.) Paul had on this killer Jimi Hendrix shirt and trademark Australian bush hat. Dougie looked cute with long baggy shorts and cute T. Matty also looked great.

I have to admit, the crowd was really huge and very PRO-Loverboy. Lots of fans and old concert T-shirts. Nice mix of ages too, not just us old bats over 33! The show was incredible. They played everything. During "Kid is Hot," on the line, "...the way she smiles.." (Mike's ad lib) some trashy woman lifted her (very tiny) white tank top and flashed huge boobs at the boys. Well, Mike and Paul seemed unfazed, but boy the roadies and the cops came out of nowhere....she was history. Mike left the stage so Spider and Matt could jam...and boy did they! It was awesome. They ended with "Workin'" and everyone went NUTS. I looked around and the sea of arms and hands was amazing. It was like 1982 all over again. I think they were really pleased.

They came out for an encore (ran over their allotted time, so fireworks were delayed) They did "Lovin" with injections of "Come Together." It was hot!! I wormed my way to the front of the stage. (There was a MASSIVE stage rush at the encore) and held up my "Live Loud Loose" CD and Mike pointed at it and gave me a HUGE thumbs up and leaned over and said "Do you like it?" I screamed back "I love it!" (Poor guy, probably screamed in his ear!) The crush of people right at the stage edge was really big and the cops had to come sit at the edge of the stage. It was wild.

After the show, there was no meet & greet as the cops got the guys in the tent out back. BUT, my husband and I literally walked right into Doug on a sidestreet going back to our car and we chatted a moment. We told him how awesome the show was and the new CD was awesome. We asked how everyone was doing and he said Mike (believe it or not) had a cold! Everyone was tired from the long flight, but he thanked us profusely for the compliments. He even offered to sign my CD but bonehead here had NO PEN!!!

The radio station that sponsored the show was FULL of compliments this morning and went on and on about how awesome the boys were.

It was a great show! Time has not slowed our fab five. THEY ROCKED!!!!!
